Can I feed REVEAL data into my pavement management system?
Yes, we have developed loading functionality for a number of PMS so please get in contact if you want to know whether your system is already supported.

How quickly can I expect my report?
For best results you should provide targeted core logs. We can recommend core locations for a short section of road within a few days and will typically provide our report within 1 week of receipt of core logs.

How do I find out if my roads are available via the REVEAL database?
Go to the Get Data section and follow the instructions. Alternatively, give us a call and we'll talk you through the process.

What if my roads are not available in the REVEAL database?
You have two options: if you need the information urgently you can place an order with Aperio for a Fastrack Survey, alternatively let us know of your likely requirements a few months in advance and we will try to accommodate your area into our Prioritised Survey plan. There is a charge for option 1, but option 2 is absolutely free.

I have lost my password details. What should I do?
Just go to the Forgot Password? Link on the web site and follow the instructions.

What is the point of opening an account?
Whilst the Reveal database can be accessed by anybody, there are significant benefits to account holders:

  • Simpler account management

  • More functionality to define the sections in your network

  • Automatic updates as new data becomes available on the sections in your network

  • Rapid overview of the sections that have been previously purchased under your account: avoid buying data that your colleague has already bought

  • Save search criteria

  • Avoid unnecessary typing when getting data

  • Opening an account is quite painless and does not cost anything.

  • Why is calibration data so important?
If you can provide calibration data your pavement construction data will be more accurate and more reliable. Whilst we can provide your report without calibration the confidence rating will inevitably be reduced. The most common source of calibration information is core logs, but we can also use design records, trial hole logs and deflection data to get the most from your data.

What is the confidence rating system?
Aperio developed the confidence rating system to enable clients to make informed decisions about the fitness for purpose of survey results. The rating system is based on a matrix of GPR data quality and its correlation with calibration data. Results with low confidence may be adequate where a general understanding of pavement construction is required across a network, whereas higher confidence should be sought for complex engineering situations such as scheme design.

Can I combine my Scanner survey of road surface condition with GPR?
Yes, if you commission your Scanner surveys through Data Collection Limited you will get the benefit of a GPR survey collected at the same time for no extra charge. You will be able to access some or all of the GPR results through the REVEAL Construction Database. This approach makes procurement easier and ensures that your surface and subsurface data are synchronised at source.

Can REVEAL be used to map buried services?
No, slow speed surveys are required to achieve the level of detail required to map buried services. Even then you should expect some services to remain undetected.

Can REVEAL be used to map voids, cracks or other defects?
No, slow speed surveys are required to achieve the level of detail required to determine pavement condition.
